Flag Placement at Calghary Cematery

Each Memorial Day weekend, in a combined effort, American Legion Post #8 and Boy Scout Troop 13 place over 400 American Flags on the grave sites of Soldiers at Calgary Cemetery on Front Street in St. Paul. There are three sites that cover the Civil War, World War I & II, Korea, and Vietnam. The scouts taking part in this activity not only place the flags but also take the time to look at and read each grave marker. Many of the civil War markers are impossible to read dut to deterioration caused by time and weathering. Many of the scouts have all commented on the ages of the soldiers that served in the different wars and conflicts.

Annual November Food Drive

Boy Scout Troop 13 and Cub Scout Pack 70 conduct a food drive every November for the Food shelves at the Franciscan Brothers of Peace. The Franciscan Brother assists over 300 families that rely on them for Thanksgiving dinner as well as food throughout the year.

The Monday before the food drive the scouts flyer our neighborhood from Snelling Ave to Lexington Pkwy and University Ave to Pierce Butler Road. We place over 1500 flyers on doors requesting that donations be set out on the next Saturday morning to be collected by the scouts.
